Thoughts of a Feral
by Annette Easdon
I sit beneath the bushes as she fills my dish each day,
We all know the story of the starfish and often relate our animal rescue attempts to it.
The truth of the matter is there are millions of suffering animals worldwide and as a single individual we can do very little to help.
But when it comes to spaying and neutering it not only "makes a difference to that one"
It makes a difference to the thousands and thousands of unwanted animals born in the future.
By spaying and neutering just one cat that may not be your own. Maybe a neighbors, family member or stray, you can make a difference to thousands. Many rescue groups and organizations will help with cost, catching strays, whatever it takes. It is often free through rescue groups and government programs. Sometimes all it takes from you is a phone call.
I know I am guilty of begging, but it is all in an effort to show that you as an individual can make a big difference. I am not an organization or large group . I am not wealthy, fancy or famous. Yet my spay/neuter clinics have spayed and neutered over 3200 cats in three years with people like you.
Please whatever you are good at, organizing, working with animals, crafts, fundraising, trapping, talking on the phone, fostering, donating or just offering a kind word to a weary animal or rescue person. Please take that gift you can give and support your local animal rescue group especially your local low cost spay/neuter programs. Help get as many animals spayed and neutered as you can!
Help make a difference to "that" one and thousands and thousands of future animals.
